Hello fellow Canadians.
This past Friday we officially launched our first 3 Hitchbots! Student groups have been busy working away completing their hitchhiking robots over the past few weeks. They have been constructing, soldering, glueing, writing and problem solving to make their Hitchbots just right. A few groups were ahead of schedule so we decided to get a few of them out as soon as we could. I'm happy to say that we've already seen some exciting developments. One of our Hitchbots, 'Hitch', has already made his way out of Calgary, taking a trip to Mackay's in Cochrane for some Ice Cream. We're already seeing the kindness of Canadians in action. We've also seen some mentions from other Canadians on Twitter, who have found our other Hitchbots at the Calgary Zoo and the Calgary Tower. More groups are hoping to launch their Hitchbots this week, so please keep your eyes peeled for these curious little bots around the Calgary Area (for now!).

We had a blast with our little hitchbot yesterday 😁 being out in the sun all day we brought him to the children's hospital just for a quick check-up the tech said he's good to go and happily posed for a photo..of to the keg for dinner (all the staff had lots of questions about his adventures ) left him by hwy 1 so hopefully he's off to Banff 😁.

The students were absolutely BEAMING when you're Twitter update came up on our Smartboard today. Thank you for taking the time to spend the day with one of our little bots. You took him on quite the adventure! People like you are the reason we initially came up with this idea. Thanks for making us proud to be Canadian. :)

Hitchbot Willie has been travelling around the west side of Calgary spreading the word of the mission to kids to watch him fill his bucket list! Thanks Erin Woods 4/5's for the fun Willie has provided. He'll be heading to Banff tomorrow to check one off the list! Stay tuned for photos on Twitter

HI! Thanks for sending Steve-bot on the road! We loved having him. Photos are on instagram and he is now heading East from the Okanagan on route to Canmore. I think he has been to Tofino, Whistler, Squamish and Vernon so far. In Squamish he had an "adventure week" where he checked out the kiteboarders on the spit, went for a stand up paddle in the estuary and went bouldering (climbing with no rope but close to the ground) near the Chief Granite massif. He is blast to travel with! Everyone who sees him comes over to say hi and ask about him. Kids just light up when they meet him. Not sure who is having more fun...him or the people who meet him! I hope you all have a great summer. Canada is a great place to explore anytime...but summer is the best. Have a good one! Sheila.

Found the hitchbot looking out over Okanagan Lake--not quite the right direction to get to Ottawa, Toronto, or Montreal, but it's all about the journey....No operating electronics, a bow clipped on top, pink gloves, so we think hitch is a "she". She took a dip in the lake on a beautiful sunny day, stopped by "the Peach" for a cool drink, checked out the Henna shop, and had a delicious Middle Eastern lunch at "Cleopatra"--pretty nice! There may be some Instagram pix posted by my friend soon. I think she will chill in Penticton for a bit before heading on, maybe get gussied up a bit too.

Was the Hitchbot's name Rose-Alee by chance? I am trying to keep a record of where she's been & print all photos posted so my daughter has this to look back on.

Picked up Rose-Alee in Osoyoos yesterday. Took her for a drive through Manning Provincial Park and through to Horseshoe Bay. She got to drive a BC ferry over to Nanaimo. Today she was dropped off at the Nanaimo visitor info centre. Thanks for the fun experience. We added a Nanaimo pin to her outfit! Happy travels! One landmark that is important to me is the Terry Fox Memorial because it represents courage, generosity, and the coming together of a nation to support one individual. My word to describe Canada is 'home' as I hope that many diverse people feel at home here as I do.

Haven't heard about her in a few months. Thank You so much for your kindness, we greatly appreciate it. Do you have any photos? I am trying to make a memory book for my daughter.

Found the hitch bot in ucluelet, B.C. I got a few photos of it at the beach and on an antique gun. Then I took it to long beach and got some photos there. I left it in port Alberni while I went for dinner, and it was gone when I came back. The bot looked kind of damaged and had a rusted battery, pink gloves and a bow on top. It also had a random pink Apple charging cable inside.

We found hitchbot at kekuli bay in the interior of BC. We are from Victoria BC. I like living in Canada because there are not many guns. In Canada you are basically safe and there are lots of nice people. The spindle whorls carved by the indigenous lekwungen First Nations people of Vancouver island are pretty amazing landmarks! I like Canadian beef and playing grounders. I am turning eight years old and am Canadian but half Trinidadian! The best Canadian experience is making smores and camping with my mom.

I picked up Hitchbot Rosealee from Nanaimo BC. She's been camping in Qualicum beach, at the beach at Rebecca Spit on Quadra Island and out for fine dining at Painters Lodge in Campbell River. She tells me she needs to get to Haida Gwaii, so I'll be passing her on to the nice folks at BC Ferries in Port Hardy to get her there
