Hello Canada!
Let us introduce ourselves. We are a team of grade 4/5 students and teachers from Erin Woods School in Calgary, Alberta. Together we are in the process of designing and building a number of hitchhiking robots that we hope will help us develop a deeper understanding of our country and the people who live in it. We have been working on a number of different activities to help build our understanding of Canada over the past few months in preparation for this project. We sent a survey home asking community members and our families about their ideas of Canadian identity. We also have been identifying interesting landmarks, activities, music, food and cultures that are commonly identified as 'being Canadian.' In order to develop a deeper understandings of electricity and robotics we have engaged in a number of interactive learning activites. We spent some time building squishy circuits in our classroom (circuits that are connected by dough that is conductive or insulative). We also had fun building 'Blinky Bots' with the Western Canadian Robotics Society. We were also really lucky to have the design thinking team from the Calgary Board of Education come visit us and allow us to discover Robotics through play. Students also spent some time this day engaging in weatherproofing workshops as well as learning how to select appropriate building materials for our Hitchbot. Right now we are working on writing a detailed instruction booklet meant to be attached to our Hitchbots to inform people how to help our Hitchbot or the purpose behind our journey. We are also in the middle of using an online 3-d modeling program to design blueprints of our models. Please check back with us for regular updates or follow our adventure on Twitter (@HitchbotWoods) or on Instagram (@hitchbotwoods).

Hi, I'm a tour director with Grand Circle Travel. My group of 35 American travelers and I picked up your hitchbot at Avonlea Village, PEI. We are now on te Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Island and will drop him off along the way so he can go for a hike ad try to spot some moose! We hve a couple of photos of him to send you. Is that only possible on Twitter or Instagram?

Hey, I am a summer employee working for Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, National Marine Conservation Area, and Haida Heritage Site. We recently found one of your Hitchbots and we are in the process of sending it from the west to the east coast; Gros Morne National Park! Not sure if this blog is still active, but we thought it would still be cool to check in!
